Hi James,

Thanks for the writeup on the Zooburst project! To answer your question about external media - PNG file uploads will be fully supported in Zooburst. In fact, you can see an example of them in action if you check out the newly released public demo book:

http://blog.zooburst.com/2010/03/demo-version-of-the-zooburst-viewer-is-now-online/

Once you launch the viewer you can flip to page #3 to see an example of a PNG with and without transparency.

Thanks again!

I'll check out the IF next week, after school's calmed down a bit.

Oh, there's also the concept of the Anti-Walkthrough--a guide to completing the game NOT as intended. In a way this could be taken as critique (of the intended linearity, if nothing else). This one for Oblivion is pretty great:

Huh, the walkthrough link is already dead.

I just played Sarah Morayati's IF game "Broken Legs", and one of the implemented commands is "walkthrough". It isn't really a part of the game proper, though, and it's terribly necessary. The game itself is awesome (You play Lottie Plum, and you just blew your audition, so now you have to sabotage everyone else so that they do worse than you did) but it is extremely difficult, with lots of way to make winning impossible.
